The Motorsport Voluntary Fire & Rescue Service brings together the emergency responders in motorsport. Collectively these are the Specialist Fire, Rescue and Recovery units and medical personnel who protect the participants at motorsport events.

Rescue Units
Motorsport Rescue Units are specially adapted Ambulances designed to carry crew and equipment to an incident and provide medical, disincarceration and extrication at an incident. Rescue units carry firefighting, stabilisation and cutting equipment to help responders gain safe access to a competition car that has been involved in an incident, as well as a range of medical equipment to assist medical professionals to extricate patients and transport them to definitive care.

Fire Response Units
Motorsport Fire Units are designed to provide a rapid response to competition vehicle fires. Motorsport vehicle fires may involve flammable fuels and liquids, electrical fires at a range of voltages, batteries of varying types and flammable metals as well as more normal flammable materials. These units are equipped with specialist fire fighting foams and wetting agents as well as other equipment to rapidly control and extinguish fires, and support other rescues responding to incidents.

Stage Safety Units
Motorsport Stage Safety Units are light rapid response medical intervention vehicles, designed to get responders and medical equipment to the scene of an incident over varying types of terrain. They may be used either as a first response whilst rescue or fire vehicles are mobilised, or can be used to bring second level medical resources to the scene of an incident.

Recovery Units
Motorsport Recovery Units are light responsive vehicles that provide support to Rescue and Fire Units, providing advanced stabilisation and relocation, as well as recovery of the casualty vehicle after the incident has concluded. “Heavy” recovery units can additionally provided a suspended tow facility within motorsport venues.
